Cluj International Ceramics Biennale

October 8-30 2015, Cluj-Napoca.

The profound changes in today's world have strongly influenced our search for an expended field of expression. Contemporary ceramic art, very sensitive to the change of artistic canons evolves towards an interdisciplinary and integrative strategy. The new concepts that are gaining ground attest a type of aesthetics with forms of expression specific to many other genres, the outcome being an ingenious and resourceful alchemy.

The second edition of Cluj International Ceramics Biennale is a synergic series of cultural events which, besides their artistic component, is aiming for an extensive intercultural dialogue as well as creating educational awareness in visual arts by introducing the Romanian viewer to contemporary ceramic artists and contemporary practice in the field. The biennale is also getting national and international institutions to work together with the aim of creating an environment for ceramics in the city of Cluj. A real festival of ceramics, our 2015 edition features six main ceramic art exhibitions, a traditional pottery fair, documentary film projections, workshops, conferences, public round tables and other events, all accompanying our main event, the international competition for which a renowned jury has selected over 100 artists from 37 countries.

The main exhibition will open on October 9 at 6PM at the Cluj Art Museum. (see event schedule for details)

Other exhibitions will be hosted in multiple locations throughout Cluj-Napoca: The Art Museum, The Casa Matei Gallery, IAGA Gallery, Horeb gallery, Quadro Gallery and other.
